I hate to break it to you, but although you can have just about anything these days, you can’t have everything.
You can’t do everything
You can’t talk to everyone
You can’t give your attention to more than one thing at a time
You have limited energy
You have limited time
You have limited money
Your body has it’s own limitations.
The onset of the digital age, with all its benefits has caused our lives to become increasingly frantic.
Multi-tasking was cool for a while, but single tasking seems to be where it’s at these days.
How many tabs do you have open on your web browser right now?
Why so many?
Why the impatience?
Why the rush?
These days we have Shark Tank and Master Chef, celebrity entrepreneurs and the celebrity chefs, we have Idol, X-Factor and The Voice. Everyone seems to be looking for a short cut.
Unfortunately, life doesn’t work that way. The long shot is a pipe dream, like playing the proverbial lottery. Sure you may get lucky, but the real value is in the hustle, in grinding it out.
In showing up every day and doing the work, slowly, day by day, bit by bit.
There are real benefits to playing the long game, in taking things slow and steady.
You may not get the instant pay-off you're looking for doing it that way, but if you're living your life for the instant gratification, then it's more about chasing your next dopamine hit rather than establishing good habits and strong foundations.
If you move just an inch a day closer to where you’re headed, before you even know it, you’ll be well on your way.
