The Long Road

Attention spans are getting shorter and standards of living are getting higher
We want it all and we want it now.
We’ve forgotten what it feels like to go without
To make a sacrifice
To give something up now, for something more important in future.
We are short sighted
Caught playing the short game
Looking for short cuts
And quick returns
When the real value is in seeing the big picture
And in playing the long game.
It is indeed true, that Rome was not built in a day
And if you want something that's built to last
Something built on solid foundations
It’s going to take some time, that’s just the nature of things.
So don’t expect it all to happen right here right now.
That’s just an illusion, created by a market intent on a quick sale.
But it's also a distortion of nature
Because it’s only when you plant the seeds in fertile soil
And nurture them properly
That they can grow to eventually bear good fruit.
