It's Never Enough

Updated: Dec 21, 2020

It doesn’t matter how much we accumulate , we always want more

It never seems to be enough

Before we’re finished with what we’re doing,

We’re already looking to the next thing

The next experience

Looking for that next hit of dopamine, like addicts looking for a quick fix.

I hate to break it to you, but there is no quick fix

Trying so hard to fill an empty void with things, people or experiences

Not realising, that those things will never be enough

The emptiness is real, but it can’t be satisfied by temporal things

Maybe for a short time, allowing for a brief state of ‘blissful forgetfulness’

But this is always short lived.

And the higher the highs, the lower the lows.
