Drifting Away

Updated: Feb 11

The thing with drifting, is that it happens very slowly.

You can drift towards or drift away, but so slowly in fact that you hardly even notice.

This is also how life happens.

And if you’re not navigating your own way,

You’re at the mercy of the different currents

And where the winds blow, you go.

That’s the whole point with anchors,

They are meant to keep you grounded like the roots of a tree.

To ensure you don’t get lost out at sea or blow away with the breeze.

And life too needs to be anchored. To be rooted.

To be based in something firm.

In some guiding principles, a compass that points to true north.

That gives you direction and ensures your priorities are kept firmly in sight.

For without that, you too are forever drifting.

And so slowly,

That you’d hardly ever notice until in fact,

You’re too far to ever find your way back home.
