A Fistful Of Sand
Updated: Aug 23, 2021

Life is indeed a balance between holding on and letting go.
And like a fistful of sand, the tighter you grasp it, the more it slips away.
The harder you hold on, the more it escapes you
The more you push it, the more you repel it
There is indeed a time for holding on and a time for letting go
But the skill is in knowing how and when
In discerning what’s good for you and what’s not.
In knowing the right time
And finding that balance so everything is indeed where it needs to be.
You can’t live a full life without first reconciling your relationship with death
Because the more you try and 'stay alive'
The less risks you take
The more comfort and safety you seek
And the more you live in fear
And this is when real Life escapes you.
But to approach it with reckless abandon also means that chaos ensues
And chaos can lead to destruction and the darkening of the soul.
So it may be wise to settle for ‘just enough’ -
Giving just enough and taking just enough
Just enough effort
Just enough vulnerability
And just enough risk.
And being able to recognise those things and people worth holding onto
Those that are worth the risk
