It’s quite common to go through life feeling powerless.
Believing that you’re actually powerless.
Like nothing is within your control, that you have no say, that you can’t influence the outcome.
That things are out of your hands.
Well what if I told you, that you have power beyond measure and it stems from a very simple realisation.
The realisation that you have a choice
In every moment, in every situation, you have a choice.
Relinquishing this idea, also relinquishes you of your power.
The only thing that you can actually control is what you choose to do in any given situation.
And too often I see people simply accepting their fate, not because they chose to, but because they somehow believed that they had no choice.
Too often I see people saying I don’t have time
But its not that you don’t have time, its that you chose to allocate the time you do have somewhere else
Too often I hear people saying, I can’t.
But it’s not that you can’t, it’s usually that you won’t and chose not to.
Holding on to your ability to choose is really the final frontier.
Your God given responsibility to exercise your free will
What you need to begin realising is that you ALWAYS have a choice,
If you're not making them consciously, then you'll find them playing out in your actions
Every time you act (or don't act) - you've essentially chosen.
So the deeper more fundamental question is not whether you have a choice, but whether you’re willing to live with the consequences.
And if you can’t change a situation, you can still choose your attitude
And if you can't change your attitude, then you are challenged to change your self.
Knowing that you have a choice,
That you’re literally one decision away from a totally different life is where your power stems from.
By not choosing anything, you’re essentially assuming the role of victim.
Not taking any responsibility for the situation you find yourself in
When reality is, you’ve always got some part to play, regardless of your circumstances.
So if you’re going to give anything up in life, don’t give up your power to choose, just make sure when you do exercise that power, you try and do it well.
