Love Is Not A Feeling
Updated: Jan 3
Love is a decision, not an emotion.
It’s expressed, not felt.
You don’t fall in Love; you live in Love and with Love.
It's not so much a feeling as it is a state of being.
It dwells in you and you dwell in it.
Love transcends words. It cannot be described; it goes beyond anything you could ever fully comprehend.
Yet you recognise it when you experience it.
It’s the highest order value that ultimately makes you uniquely human.
Love is not selfish, it’s selfless.
Love is not proud, it does not seek validation, nor does it boast.
It doesn’t long for material things, nor does it seek to possess another.
Love does not envy, it does not keep a record of wrongs.
Just as hate is not a thing in and of itself, but rather the absence of Love.
So is darkness merely the absence of Light.
We all have the capacity to give Love, yet sometimes we choose not to.
We all have the capacity to receive Love, yet sometimes we choose not to.
I've always wondered why that is?
Is it just too difficult?
In the words of the famous Sufi poet Rumi, “your task is not to seek for Love, but merely seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it”.
So today and always, go in Love.
