To Be Fully Committed
Updated: Jan 10, 2020
Not sure what it is about commitment that people are so afraid of, I’m guessing it’s some underlying fear of missing out!?
So the thought process goes -
I want to keep my options open.
I don’t want to be boxed in.
I’m not sure if that’s what I want to do.
Can you see the uncertainty creeping in?
Commitment to me, is much more than just a set of circumstances you’ve created for yourself, it’s an attitude.
And I will tell you this; to be fully committed is one of the most powerful things you can do.
To be fully committed to the moment,
To be fully committed to an idea
To be full committed to a belief
To be fully committed to a point of view
To be fully committed to learning
To be fully committed to exploring
To be fully committed to life.
It’s about knowing where you stand and diving in, without hesitation and despite your natural fears.
It’s about not approaching your life, your work or relationships half-heartedly.
It’s about living true to your convictions and being honest enough with yourself if you’re still figuring things out.
Commitment pushes you in a direction – propelling you forward whilst also forcing you to stand your ground and establish some firm boundaries.
What you commit yourself to also says something about your character.
Your identity and who you are as a person.
Commitment has less to do with what you say and more to do with your intention, what you do and you how you act in the world.
Not living a fully committed life tends to leave you in a bit of an abyss.
Things don’t quite make sense,
They are a little ambiguous,
You’re not quite sure where you stand or what you stand for,
You’re not quite sure what you should be doing
You’re neither here nor there, neither in nor out.
It puts you in a kind of holding pattern, not moving forward and not being as productive as you know you can be.
Your life doesn’t quite seem as aligned as it should be, you find yourself a victim to circumstance.
You’re holding back, when you should be unleashing your potential!
Everything starts with being fully committed and nothing really changes without it.
So, the first battle is asking yourself, what are you willing to fully commit to and why?
And once you’ve got that figured, then you may want to ask yourself,
Are you in or are you out?
